Pastor Glen Podd

Glen was born in 1958 in Basseterre, St. Kitts West Indies. His mother and father are Georgina and Cyril and he has three sisters and two brothers of whom Glen is the youngest.
In 1960 the Podd family came to England when Glen was just 2 years old. They settled in Leeds in Beeston. They had a difficult time being strangers in a new country. Nevertheless Glen enjoyed Dewsbury Road Primary School where he played for the football team as he also did in Matthew Murray Comprehensive School. He left senior school with 9 O’levels and graduated from Leeds Polytechnic with an HND in Business Studies in 1979.
In September 1979 he began his first job as a Company Secretary for a clothing retailer, Wisehouse Ltd where he stayed for 8 years. He then became a Financial Controller for Rackham Housefloors in Dewsbury for 8 months until he left for Elim Bible College in 1988.
Glen became a committed Christian in 1977 as a result of his mother’s prayers and his sister’s persistence. It was at a youth crusade called “The Whole Story” hosted by Rev. David Watson in Leeds Town Hall. He began worshipping at the Elim Pentecostal Church in Leeds called ‘Bridgestreet’. He joined the youth group and served on the youth committee from 1979, becoming the Youth Leader in 1981. There he met Gillian who he married in 1985. In 1988 they left for Elim Bible College in Nantwich, Cheshire for 3 years training to be an Elim Minister. In 1991 he was posted to Ilford, London where he assisted for 7 years. They had three children there, all girls, Hannah, Sarah and Rachel. In 1998 he was posted to Romford, Essex as the Senior Pastor where he is still serving.
