Mission to Poland 2010
Wow! What a blessed week we had in Poland. Thanks so much for your prayers and your financial support. We were able to help considerably with the cost of the mission and bless each of the 4 churches we were serving over the 10 day mission.
Szczecin
We arrived on the Friday afternoon and proceeded to the local Pentecostal church where we ministered in 3 concerts, one open air outreach and a church service. The message was certainly made clear and we saw many people come to each gospel event. Leah impressed me so much with her joy, testimony and her amazing drama. Pastor Henriques and his wife Kasia work tirelessly in this church with great enthusiasm and commitment. Please pray for Kasia as she continues to fight cancer of the throat. Also pray that they would be able to finance full time ministry as at the moment Henriques has to work a vigorous shift at the local water works to finance the church activities. I cant tell you how impressed I was at this man’s humble approach to leadership-what a lovely family.
Wyszkow
After a 10 hour train journey we arrive in Radom only to drop off our bags to go to a place that is called Wyszkow. Many of you will remember praying for a young 12 year old boy called Dominic last year; Pastor Krzystov’s son. He was diagnosed with cancer during our mission last year and was given just 10-20% chance of survival. I am delighted to say he is still with us and enjoying a full life although he is receiving a lot of treatment and is still not expected (by his medics) to survive. We are praying for his total recovery and I am so excited to see what God is doing with this young family of 7 in this deprived area of Poland. We did 2 open airs concert and 2 gospel outreaches in the local cultural centre. We were staying in very basic boarding rooms in a disused school. We did not sleep that night due to the tiresome knocks on our doors from the local Polish Builders who happened to be staying there also. Some of the women were quite scared but in the morning we began to pray in earnest for these men and we were delighted to see them at the gospel outreach that night. The concerts were very well attended and the message was clear and direct. We are so pleased that 3 people from the concerts have since attended the church and 2 of them gave their lives to Jesus on Sunday.
Radom
After this we travelled back to Radom where we were based for the rest of the mission although we travelling to two other areas in the remaining time. We sang , testified and preached everywhere that we went and saw many people gather together in the evenings to hear more about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The concerts were all very well attended and the contact information given to the Pastors of each church were of great encouragement. Each Pastor will now be following up each contact and we pray that this will also bear much fruit. We did our last concert in a small town on the outskirts of Radom called Pionki, we visited there last year and led a young lady called Anna Kidon to the Lord. She is now Baptised and travelling 50 miles to her nearest bible-believing church each Sunday. It was precious meeting her again and seeing the work God has been doing in her life. She is an evangelist and brings many people to the services in Radom. She Lectures on the English Language in her local College and invites students to hear the English Preacher (Roy Scarsbrook) preach each week at this wonderful Baptist Church. Please pray for her as she continues her journey. There are so many stories to tell you about this trip but the main thing I would ask you to do is pray for the leaders in Poland-there are so few Pastors and churches are being formed in homes without leaders or bible-versed believers. Please pray that God would send workers into this beloved country and support those already there who would like to train further in the Word of God. Please don’t forget Poland. Helen
